It’s a pleasure to work with the LTW-Software. Everything has been tailored to our needs and we are able to optimize the system on an ongoing basis. Alongside a direct point of contact at LTW, this is definitely the biggest advantage.

Dominic Buchebner, Warehouse Manager Wieselburg

At its Wieselburg site, Brau Union has storage space in excess of 38,000 m2, which is home to around 50,000 pallets. The goods are stored in blocks by type and have to be sorted according to their expiration date – this determines which goods need to be delivered first (FEFO principle). Brau Union Österreich has been using our warehouse management system at its Wieselburg site since 2008. Thanks to our software solution, employees now know where each batch is at all times, something that has made day-to-day work at the brewery much easier. However, the brewery recently noticed that there is still room for improvement.

Production capacity isn’t the only thing that has grown over the years; customer demands have also become larger and more complex. Firstly, Wieselburg brewery not only bottles its own beer but also supports other beer brands within the group. And secondly, customers are increasingly demanding that all beverages be provided by a single supplier. This has led to the brewery not only supplying beer, but also other goods such as soft drinks. As it now has to store a much wider range of goods, order picking requirements have grown exponentially and goods handling has become much more complex.

What’s the solution to meet these increased order picking requirements? An intelligent software solution that runs in the background. To be able to work effectively, employees in Wieselburg not only need to know where each batch with specific expiration dates is at all times, but optimizing travel routes and improving the traceability of transport orders are also becoming increasingly important. This led the brewery to upgrade its solutions once again, retrofitting its LTW warehouse management system with our SLS forklift control system. The SLS solution helps the company optimize transport orders for its forklift trucks and cut the distances to be traveled, while at the same time minimizing transport order error rates. This not only makes working in the warehouse significantly easier, but also more efficient.
