Visit ÖBB Terminal
This year, we took on the mentoring of a HTL class with a focus on logistics. Why? Because it is important to provide young people with solid insights into the working world at an early stage. Therefore, we regularly organize excursions, lectures, and visits for this class. For the visit in June, we came up with something very special: we took the students to the ÖBB container terminal in Wolfurt.
The visit started with an introduction by Alfons Mitterlehner, who has been involved from the very beginning and can best tell the story of the terminal's development. The various stages of container handling were particularly fascinating.
Before the entire terminal was explored, two employees from LTW provided particularly interesting insights into the world of logistics. Jannick, a former student of the HTL, wrote his thesis on heavy-duty stacker cranes and container handling at our company in 2020. Today, Jannick is a full-fledged employee at LTW in the sales and project management department, working closely with his former supervisor, Rainer, on container projects. Jannick was able to provide exclusive insights into his field during the presentation. Additionally, it was exciting for the students who will graduate next year to learn about the career path of a former student and the opportunities that LTW can offer.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the tour of the area. The connections between Jannick's thesis presentation and what the students saw during the visit provided an extra special experience. It was definitely interesting for the students to not only gain insights into the transshipment area but also learn about container repair and other services related to containers.
